The entertainment given at the Bap­
tist church last Monday evening by
Mrs. Reece’s music class was well at­
tended. The recital by these young
people was very pleasing, many of them
showing exceptional talent. The num­
bers were all very good, and the aud­
ience enjoyed them very much.
The old saying that “it's an ill wind
that don’t blow someone some good’’
was away off last Sunday—as far as the
ladies of this city were concerned, any-

chased the north 20 acres of the Dr
Groom place three miles and a‘half
northeast of this city, has let a con
tract to Reeder & Correll for the con­
struction of a four-room cottage on the

the lady’s son-in-law having purchased
it.
Mrs. Wesley Whipple of Spokane,
eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. F.
Callbeck, is a visitor at the parental
home in this city. Both Mys. Whipple
and her husband, who is now in the
navy, are well known here, having
lived in this city a number of years be­
fore their marriage about 3 years ago.
While her husband isaway serving his
country as one of the crew of the bat­
tleship St. Louis, now engaged in act­
ing as convoy to ships transporting
troops over to France, Mrs. Whipple
is holding a position with the Dutro
Burroughs Printing and Manufacturing
Co. of Spokane as stenographer and
bookkeeper.
