True to our editorial of a couple a
weeks ago, our active industry, the
Hermiston Creamery, has won laurels
at the O. A. C. at Corvallis in a butter
scoring contest, lacking only one half
of one per cent of taking first place in
the state among all competitors, for
which it received a cash prize.
While driving into town from the
ranch Tuesday evening to meet her
husband, who bad been in Pendleton
that day on business, Mr. A. F, Ben-
sei was badly bruised about the face
and bead by being thrown from the
buggy when the horse she was driving
became frightened and ran away.

Notice is hereby given that by virtue of an exe
cution and order of sale issued out of the Circuit
Court of the state of Oregon for Umatilla county,
and to me directed and delivered upon the judg
ment and decree rendered and entered in said
court on the 24th day of January, 1918, in that
certain suit wherein West Umatilla Water Users
Association, a corporation, as Plaintiff, and John
W. Campbell, the Hartman Abstract Company,
a corporation. Western Land & Irrigation Com
pany, a corporation, and R. C. Hazen, are defend
ants, in favor of the defendant Western
Land & Irrigation Company and against
the defendant John W. Campbell for the
sum of $8634.60, with interest thereon at
the rate of 6 per cent per annum from
the 24th day of January. 1918; the further
sum of 8600.00 attorneys fees and for $19.50 costs
and disbursements, which said decree, judgment
and order of sale has been docketed and enrolled
in the office of the Clerk of said Circuit Court;
and whereas by said jugdment, decree and order
of sale it was directed that the following describ
ed real property situated in Umatilla County,
Oregon, to-wit: the Southeast quarter (SEM) and
the East half of Northeast quarter (E‘NE%), of
Section thirty-two (32), Township five (5) North,
Range twenty-eight (28 ), E. W. M., together with
the water right appurtenant thereto, being the
water right conveyed to John W. Campbell by the
Western Land & Irrigation Company by water
right contract dated April 30th, 1909. be sold by
the Sheriff of Umatila County, Oregon, to satisfy
said judgment, decree and order of sale.
I will, on Saturday, the 16th day of March, 1918,
at the hour of 10 o’clock of the forenoon of said
day, at the front door of the court house in
the city of Pendleton, in Umatilla county, Ore
gon. sell all the right, title and interest the said
John W. Campbell had in and to the above des
cribed premises and property on the 30th day of
April, 1909, or since then has acquired therein or
thereto, at public auction to the highest bidder
for cash in hand, the proceeds to he applied in
satisfaction of said execution and order of sale
and all costs.

action within six weeks from the date of the first
publication of this summons and on or before

Notice is hereby given that by virtue of the
authority of the City Charter of the City of Her-
miston and the direction of the the City Council
authorizing and directing the Treasurer of the
City of Hermiston to collect the unpaid assess-
ment for the City irrigation waler for the year
1917, levied and imposed under the provisions of
Ordinance No. 76, passed by the City Council and
approved by the mayor on July 2nd, 1913.
I will on the 26th day of February, 1918, at the
hour of 10 o'clock In the forenoon of said day at
the City Council Chamber In the City of Her-
miston, Oregon, sell the following described lots,

highest bidder for caah in hand, the proceed,
