Mrs P. S. Ward was the recipient
of sad news the first of the week, when
she received a telegram from the fam­
ily home in Galax, Virginia, advising
her of the death bf her father. A
minor ailment, coupled with hia ad
vanced age of 78 years, brought about
his demise.
Mrs. R. A. Brownson proved herself
a charming hoatess Monday afternoon
when she entertained the girls of her
Sunday school class at her home. The
time was spent in playing games,
after which delicious refreshments
were served. A very enjoyable after-
noon is reported by those attending.
“Grandma” Stewart returned Thurs­
day morning from a visit toherdaugh-
ter, Mrs. Wyckoff, at Tacoma. On
