have served th e ir purpose w ithout
a break for th e past eight years. A
few days ago one of th e old tim ­
bers of the scale bioke, and th is is
being replaced u n d er th e direction
of F ra n k Gibbs and L. J. W inter.
As long as any rep a ir w as neces­
sary , new tim b ers th ro u g h o u t are
being put in, tw o of th ese 12 inch
x 16 inch and 18 feet each in
length.

M. D. K ern was taken suddenly
ill Sunday n ig h t at th e home of
J. H. M orrison, w ith whom he has
been stay in g for some tim e past,
an d w as rem oved in an am bulance
to a V ancouver hospital w here his
condition is said to be m uch im ­
proved. Mr. K ern w as found by
Mr. M orrison on th e floor a t the
hom e suffering from a severe a t­
tack of indigestion. His son, Roy
K ern, lives a t V ancouver and o r­
dered his fa th e r ’s rem oval to the
ho sp ital there. Mr. and Mrs. W il­
liam A nderson visited Mr. K ern
yesterd ay a t th e hospital and say
he expects to be able to re tu rn
hom e in a few days.

four-room residence w hich is being
erected on the Base L ine road east

house w ill have full basem ent and
all m odern conveniences of plum b­
ing and lighting and w ill be heated
