proving rapidly.
Mr. and Mrs. Thom as E dw ards of
P endleton, Oregon, visited th e ir
sons Newell and C lair and th e ir
fam ilies in P o rtlan d , and Mr. and
Mrs. S. S. Thom pson in G resham
over the week-end. C lair E dw ards
is a son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs.
Thom pson.
The general m eeting of th e E v an ­
gelical W om en’s union will be held
T h ursday afternoon a t 2 o'clock at
th e home of Mrs. H enry F ritz, tive
m iles ea st of G resham . Mrs. T heo­
dore B rugger, president of the gen­
era l circle, w ill have charge of the
m eeting. A fter the business se s­
sio n a social hour will be enjoyed,
th e program of which prom ises to
be of m ore th an usual in te rest. All
m em bers and th eir friends w ill be
welcome.
At the conclusion of reh e arsal
Sunday evening of the St. H enry's
C atholic ch u rch choir, the m em bers
w ere treated to a pleasan t su rp rise
by Mr. und Mrs. F ran z O lbrich, at
whose home they w ere gathered.
S elections dn the baby g rand elec­
tric player piano and the serving of
refresh m en ts by the hostess com ­
pleted a p leasan t evening. About
ten m em bers of the choir w ere
present.
Glen W inters, who is em ployed
in the gym nasium of Oregon S tate
college, spent the week-end w ith
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A.
W inters.

G resham Meat m arket, has been
unable to w ork for several days on
account of illn ess from in te stin al
flu.
T he G eneral R efrig eratin g and
M anufacturing corporation, an o r­
ganization which Is o p eratin g In
the form er Beaver S tate Motor
com pany’s place of business, Is en­
gaged in th e m a n u factu re of ice
m achines,

m odels of w hich a re on display at
the plant. The iron Is forged, m a­
chines cast and th e finished product
tu rn ed out at the local factory,
w hich nt p resen t Is em ploying
about 20 men.

ow ner of the Melville farm on tin'

apartm en t house at East 11th and
Division streets. P ortland, for re s i­
dence property and a cash consid­
eration. Tlie poor health of Mr.
and Mrs. B rugger made It neces­
sary for them to give up the a p a r t­
ment.
