dale. The I ’. S. G eographic board
at W ashington, D. C., on O ctober
6, 1926, adopted th e nam e ‘‘B rough­
ton Bluff” as a m agnificent m e­
m o rial to L ieu ten an t B roughton
who raised the flag of G reat B ritain
n ear th e foot of this bluff O ctober
30, 1792. and officially took posses­
sion of th e g rea t w ater shed of the
.’’olum bia river.

is a b eautiful and p icturesque m ass
of rock some 400 feet in height and
