Gresham Locals
Mr». Joseph H aley suffered a
broken w rist and dislocation of th e
elbow of th e rig h t arm last Tuesday
when a step ladder on which she
was stan d in g slipped. She was
- th ro w n to the ground and it was
found la ter by an X -ray picture the
a w rist had been fractu red and the
i elbow throw n out of place. H er
t arm w as im m ediately placed in a
cast and she is doing as well as can
be expected. Her au n t Mrs. Eliza
• Atwood is assistin g in her care.
Lois Cathey, the four-year-old
d au g h ter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Cathey, is suffering from an u n
usual ailm ent, a hem orrhagic con
dition w herein the blood fails to
coagulate and seeps through the
tissues. She is thought to be slow
ly responding to m edical treatm en t
which includes among other things
a liberal diet of gelatine. Drs.
Collie and Geo. Cathey of Portland,
to whom the child was taken, a s
serted th a t her condition was due
to an im poverishm ent of the blood
and was not the resu lt of the toxin-
an titoxin treatm en ts which had
been given her in the recent cam
paign ag a in st diphtheria.
Cecil Metzger is having some
slig h t changes made at his re si
dence us to the location of the
basem ent entrance.
The outside
en tra n ce is being changed from the
south side of the house to the west
and an inside sta irs to the base
m ent has been added, also an ad
ditional sm all room plastered and
fitted for occupancy. Alfred H am
m er is doing the work.
