W alrad, w ill p articip a te in th e re n ­
dition of H andel's “M essiah", to be
given at the auditorium in P o rt­
land next Sunday afternoon, J a n u ­
ary 2, beginning at 3 o'clock. The
ch o ru s will be presented by the
P o rtlan d O ratorio society under
th e leadership of Prof. J. A. F in ­
ley.
Mr. Jones will be one of six solo­
ists and w ill tak e the ten o r aria s
of the oratorio. Five C hristm as
choruses will be used, th e conclud­
ing num ber being the H allelujah
chorus. Front 75 to 100 voices are
expected to be heard. An adm ission
of 15 cen ts will be charged, the
proceeds of w hich will be used for
ch a ritab le purposes.

the offenders had tried to operate
the set and in so doing had burned
out a num ber of fuses. They had
also to rn out several sm all coils
and tram pled on them. About $350
is believed to be the extent of the
dam age, caused by th e breaking of
a large 10.000-watt tube used in
the broadcasting. It is said to be
a difficult m a tte r to replace th is
tube.
