T he new Ross Islund bridge, ded­
icated la st week, is said to be the
longest of P o rtlan d bridges c ro ss­
ing th e W illam ette, being 3,706 feet
in lenfelh. It has no draw , its
height giving 123 feet clearan ce
under cen ter span at low w ater. It
has a very long co n crete appro ach
on the w est side of 1,484 feet. The
w idth over all, including five-foot
sidew alks on each side, is 51 feet.
The ap p roxim ate cost w ith ap ­
proaches is $2,000,000.
