T he busiest season in the history
of th e G resham postofflce is in full
sw ing, w ith Monday, December 20,
as th e busiest day, according to
Miss E lizabeth Johnson, postm ast
er. It ap p ears th a t everyone spent
S unday w rapping packages and
m ailing ca rd s and le tte rs, w ith the
re su lt th a t the postofflce force was
taxed to th e lim it to handle th e
m ail th a t poured into th e office in
a steady stream all day Monday.
Miss Johnson urges people to
com plete th e ir C hristm as m ailing
at th e e a rlie st possible date. The
congestion in th e m ails is so g reat
th a t card s, le tte rs and packages for
local delivery should be in the
postofflce now.
T h ere is a tendency to m ail on

local delivery, b u t if th is is p ra c
ticed g enerally it is obvious th a t
only a sm all p a rt of th is m ail can
be delivered, due to th e crowded

21, and claim ed th eir th ird child,
L uella M ildred F race, aged 13
years. T he direct cause of death
w as pneum onia, dating from a se
vere attac k of th e grip suffered
several y ea rs ago w hich had r e
sulted in inflam m ation of th e m id
dle ear. An abscess had la ter de
veloped w hich produced a d ev ital
ized condition of th e en tire system
and pneum onia found th e child an
easy prey.
