was visited by b u rg la rs Tuesday
evening and m ore th a n $500 w orth
of dry goods, shoes, groceries and
novelties w ere stolen, A g lass in
the fro n t door w as broken and en
tran ce m ade th ro u g h it. T here is'
every evidence th a t th e thief or
thieves took th e ir tim e in plu n d er
ing thoroughly.
A b e tte r n ig h t could not have
been selected, as it w as sleeting,
and a tra c k in th e snow would be
covered in a few m inutes. On ac
co u n t of th e disagreeab le evening
no one w as abroad and th e re is not
th e slig h test clew to w ork on in
ap p reh en ding th e m arauders. A
little of everything seem s to have
been taken, a fte r a thorough check
ing over by th e pro p rieto rs. G ing
ham s, p ercales and oth er yardage
goods, sh irts, overalls, shoes, sox,
w atches, and g roceries seem to
have stru c k th e fancy and little
was left in th e sto re th a t had not
been ran sacked.
P olice a u th o rities w ere notified,
h u t as th e re is nothing to w ork on,
little hope is held out of any arrest.
T he loss is a com plete one as the
sto ck is not protected by burg lary
insurance.
