and her tw o children, Amy and Doris,
have retu rn ed to th e ir hom e in Y aki­
ma, W ashington. Mr. H am m ond and
his m other drove them to T he Dalles,

these days. Everybody is expecting an
early crop.

Monday, A pril 19, at Good S am aritan
hospital from th e effects of sp in al
m eningitis, from w hich he had been a
sufferer for a m onth. T he lad. who
w as aged 15 y ea rs and 9 m onths, was
th e son of Mr. and Mrs. Jo h n Ruhlin,
of H illsview . T he ch u rch w as unable
to se at th e audience for th e fu n eral
service, w hich w as conducted by the
Rev. E. H o rstm an n u n d er th e d irec­
tion of th e G resham F u n eral p arlo rs.
T h ere w ere b eau tifu l flow ers in g reat
q u an tities and a q u a rte t com posed of
Mrs. T heodore B rugger, Mrs. E,
Schw edler, W alter R am ser and th e
Rev. E. H o rstm an n sang "R ock of
Ages", “A sleep in Je su s" and "F ace to
F ace.” An im pressive serm on w as d e­
livered from th e w ords found in M at­
thew 24:44. T he H illsview school,
w hich Sam uel fo rm erly attended, was

Sam uel w as born a t th e farm home
n ear th e H illsview schoolhouse, w here
he has resided all his life. He had

school. He Is survived by his p are n ts
and th ree b ro th ers and four sisters,
Conrad, Joe, W illiam , C lara, G ertrude,
H attie and M artha.
Born to Mr. and Mrs. W alter Bed-
ner, S atu rd ay , April 24, a daughtey,
who has been nam ed D oris E laine.
