A few m onths ago brew ers and d is­
tillers of several E uropean countries,
who feel th e pinch and see th eir finish,
met in Berlin and subscribed v a s t 1
sum s of money to help finance o rg a n ­
izations in this co u n try opposed to
prohibition. T heir first plan was a
wet dem onstration In W ashington,
D. C., Ja n u a ry 15 of th is year, which
failed to m ature.
T here will he an ad dress in th e Ma­
sonic hall W ednesday evening of th is
week under the uusplces of the “ O re­
gon Prohibition R eferendum C orpora­
tion.” Inasm uch uh it was the women
who voted G resham dry in 1913 and
made the sta te dry.
