er, who has resided w ith his son, F re d
A nieker, on the b u tte south of G re sh
am for th e p ast four years, was killed
in stan tly in a fall from th e second
sto ry of his so n ’s home about 5 o’clock
S atu rd ay m orning, the plunge being
tak en th ro u g h the closed window and
the im pact of the body b reaking and
sh a tte rin g th e glass. When th e son and
d au g h ter-in -law reached his side a
m om ent la ter, life was found to be ex
tinct.
Mr. A nieker, who was n early 77
y ea rs old, had not been considered as
being in poor h ealth , although th e re
had been tim es recen tly when he had
been m ore or less indisposed. He had
suffered w ith periodical sp ells of de
m entia for some tim e and it is feared
th at d u rin g one of th ese a tta c k s he
may have gone to th e window for a ir
and been seized w ith a fainting spell
or apoplexy. T he re p o rt had gone out
th a t the case w as one of suicide and
possibly th e re w ere some in d ications
along th a t Un», how ever, the fac t th a t
the window w as e n tirely closed seem s
to do aw ay w ith th a t theory. He w as
sleeping directly over th e so n ’s room
and during th e n ig h t he h eard him
shuffling around in th e room , but
th o u g h t nothing of it un til th e c ra s h
cam e later. Mr. A nieker had re tire d

usual h ealth and sp irits.
