Long Beach, C alifornia, to G resham
in 43 h o u rs in a Dodge to u rin g car
and not even a p u n ctu re occu rred to
m ar the p le asu re of th e Journey. Mr.
H aw es had th e m isfo rtu n e to nearly
sever his th u m b from his hund w hen
it becam e en tan g led In an electric saw
a t his place of em ploym ent a sh o rt
tim e ago, and he w as obliged to go to
a hospital for trea tm e n t, but he has
now recovered th e use of his hand.
