VOTERS ARE ADVISED.
V oters at th e com ing election, th e
R epublican S tate C entra! com m ittee
points out, should not be confused by
th e grouping of nam es of th re e can d i
dates for ju stices of th e suprem e
co u rt. Judge H. H. B elt, Ju d g e P ercy
R. K elly and Judge O. P. Coshow, on
th e ballot. T he first tw o a re rep u b
licans but because of th e fact th a t th e
vacancy Ju d g e K elly seeks occurred
too late for him to file as a republican
he w as com pelled to have his nam e
placed on th e b allo t as an indepen
dent.
As the nam es of th e th re e candi
dates are grouped, It m ay be the m is
tak en idea of voters they a re seeking
th e sam e tw o vacancies on th e su
prem e co u rt bench. T his is not the
fact. Judge B elt and Ju d g e Coshow
a re candidates for the vacancy caused
by th e resignation of L aw rence T.
H a rris of Eugene, w hile Judge Kelly
seeks the vacancy caused by th e death
of the late Judge John McCourt.
T he sta te com m ittee points out th a t
no n o n -p artisa n issue Is involved in
th is election. T here are tw o v acan
cies in th e suprem e co u rt to be filled,
caused by retire m en t and death of two
republicans. T here are tw o rep u b li
can candidates, Ju d g e Belt and Judge
Kelly, run n in g for th ese places, w hile
Judge Coshow, a dem ocrat, Is r u n
ning a g a in st Judge B elt for th e v a
cancy caused by th e Judge H a rris re
tirem ent.
Both these republican candidates, it
is urged, a re well qualified for the
positions they seek and deserve the
votes of all republicans und, indeed,
of all good citizens of w hatever party.
