ceded by th e ir scouts. As soon as th e scouts a re discovered th e enem y m a
chine guns com m ence firing. T he sk irm ish ers ru sh singly to th e line of scouts
to build up a firing line, b u t find them selves un ab le to silence th e m achine
guns, and so call for assistan ce.

m ence firing, tw o g reen ro ck ets sig n al th e one-pounders to open up on the
enem y. One red sig n al ca lls for th e a rtille ry to com m ence firing.
U nder th is su p p o rtin g fire th e in fan try is able to advance, but finally th e
enem y fire becom es so effective th a t it is n ecessary to p u t out sm oke candles
to conceal th e line.
A fter advancing fu rth e r an enem y m achine gun opens fire from th e flank
h altin g th e line of th e in fan try , an d th ey call for su p p o rtin g fire on th e new
ta rg e t.
T he a rtille ry sh ifts it's fire to th e new ta rg e t. T he m ach in e guns an d one
