w hich is one for every seven o r eight
persons. Ten years ago th e re w as one
for every 70.
It is estim ated th a t about a m illion
c a rs w ere discarded In 1923 and th a t
the production In 1924 will have to be
a m illion and a half to keep up with
th e dem and.
F o u r sta te s have over a m illion re g ­
istra tio n s. They are, New York, C ali­
fornia, Ohio and P ennsylvania.
Oregon is 27th in th e list w ith 166,-
412 reg istra tio n s, one in five of the
p o p -'a tio n . O regon’s in c re ase over the
preceding y ear w as 23.6 p er cent.
T he low est re g istra tio n is in Nevada
w ith 15,700, which, how ever, w as a 22
per cent increase over 1922.

oils, gasoline, and the filling station
