give a concert a t th e church next
week but ow ing to th e fact th a t this
d ate conflicted with rose festival and

program has been postponed until
T hursday, Ju ly 1. T his will be a
‘ th an k you" to th e public who con
trib u ted to th e p urchase of a piano
recently. A program will be pub-

Clyde R uegg Is visiting th e home
folks. He cam e T uesday evening and
will sp en d ten days here. Clyde is a
naval reserve and fo r th e p ast w inter
has been w orking on a fre ig h te r. He
left S eattle last fall and has been in
16 different ports since th a t time.
Among th e im p o rtan t cities he has
visited a re Liverpool, London, New
York, Boston and San Francisco. He
expects to a tte n d school in Seattle
th is w inter.
W. A. Hessel and wife enjoyed an
o u tin g to C lear L ake d u rin g th e past
w eek-end. They m ade th e trip in an
Overland-4 leaving h ere Saturday
and re tu rn in g Tuesday. They tra v
eled an av erag e of 23 H m iles per
gallon. C onsidering th e roads this
was a good record.
Mrs. W. J. H ollenbeck and two
younger ch ild ren , R uth an d Carl, are
visiting w ith h er p aren ts, Mr. and
Mrs. W D. K ern. They cam e T ues
day. Mr. H ollenbeck and oldest son

U cup sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
4 tablespoons seeded raisins
4 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons shortening

Sift flour, 3alt and baking pow
der together. Add melted short
ening to milk and add slow ly to
dry Ingredients stirring until
smooth. Knead lightly on floured
board and roll out H Inch thick.
Cut with biscuit cutter. Crease
each circle with back of knife

small section and fold larger
part well over the small. Place
one inch apart In greased pan.
Allow to stand 16 m inutes In
warm place. Brush each with
