T he boys were well pleased with
th e fine “ typy” B erkshire hogs seen
a t the E. F. H atton farm. They wert
excellent specim ens running over
green a lfa lfa and are conn fed be
sides. Mr. Hatton also has a small
flock of purebred Rhode Island Reds
w hich have pulled down fancy prizes
at poultry show s in Portland. What
was perhaps th e best possible o b jt.i
lesson to th e agricultu re class was
th e com parison of the Hatton orchard
p roperly sprayed and cared for, the
soil cultivated and treated to crop
ro ta tio n com pared with an orchard
ju s t over th e fence, the same age, the
sam e soil, sprayed but not pruned
n o r properly cared for. The moral
draw n from these two drove home

one of diversified agriculture, ru n
ning heavily tow ard hogs, poultry
and dairy. W hen Hilly Sunday be
