A painful accident, which cam e
near proving seriou s, occurred y es­
terday to Fred M atthias at his hom e
near G resham , when a sp lin ter from
a w edge w hich he w as using en tered
his body and lodged a short d istan ce
from the heart.
The Injured matt w as rushed to
Good Sam aritan h osp ital where the
sp lin ter was rem oved. It was found
I to have en tered th e abdom en and
| ranged upward, lod gin g below the
heart and six in ch es w ithin (lie body.
Mr. M atthias was brought hom e
from the hospital, and alth ou gh he
w ill he laid up for a few days, a rip-
id recovery is expected.
