Duroc Jersey Sows Purchased by Oregon Agricultural College From J. W. Fruit of Brooks, Oregon.
T PAYS to buy good stock, w hether sheep, cattle, goats or hogs. We note th at the Oregon
A gricultural College has bought some fine Duroc Jersey Sows. Farm ers may differ as to
the breeds of hogs to raise, and it is not our purpose to advocate buying any particular
breed. T hat is a m atter for each individual to decide. But we are strong for the hog-raising on
the farm. Let every farm er raise some hogs and turn off meat for the m arket and for his own
use every year. If the farm ers of Oregon, Washington and Idaho raised enough hogs for the
consumption of these three states, they would have in their own bank accounts the millions
of dollars that now go to the fanners of the Mid lie West.
