Heppner athletes set the pace at Irrigon Middle
School Invitational
The Heppner Junior
High track and field team
delivered an impressive
performance at the Irri-
gon Middle School Invite
on May 9, bringing home
numerous top finishes and
personal records across
both the boys and girls
divisions.
Seventh grader Aid-
den Ramos Lopez led the
charge with two first-place
finishes in the 400 meters
(57.43 PR) and 800 meters,
while Charlie Mullins dom-
inated the distance events,
winning both the 1500 me-
ters with a sub-five-minute
time and the 3000 meters.
On the girls’ side, sixth
grader Hadlie Duncan con-
tinued her breakout season,
capturing first place in the
800 meters and 1500 me-
ters, along with a win in
the 300m hurdles. Eighth
grader Catherine Lindsay
was another standout, earn-
ing first in the 200 meters
and placing in the top three
in both the 400 meters and
long jump.
The Heppner boys
4x400 relay team also
claimed victory, while the
girls 4x400 team finished
a strong third. In the field
events, Brodie Ogden
shined with a win in the
javelin and second place
finishes in both discus and
shot put.
For those Heppner ath-
letes who qualify, the next
stop is the Oregon Middle
School Meet of Champi-
ons this Friday, May 16, in
Corvallis.
