The Hodgen Distrib-
uting Heppner Yankees
were excited to accept the
invitation to participate in
Heppner Youth Baseball’s
opening ceremonies on Sat-
urday, April 12. This might
have been the team’s only
appearance in Heppner this
year, as they will average
two games a week, mostly
in Pendleton, over the next
eight weeks.
The team features play-
ers from Heppner, Ione,
Lexington and surrounding
areas between the ages of
13 and 15. Some also play
as freshmen on the high
school team.
The league features
teams from Pendleton, Hep-
pner, Milton-Freewater,
Pilot Rock and Athena. The
league opener was played
Monday, April 14, between
the Pendleton Red Sox and
the Pilot Rock Mariners.
The Heppner Yankees got
their first game action on
Tuesday, April 15, against
the Pendleton Brewers.
With a quick turnaround,
their second game is to-
day, April 16, at 6:15 p.m.
against the Pendleton Red
Sox.
Most of the games are
played at Bob White Field
in Pendleton, which they
are lucky to share with
Pendleton High School; so,
game times throughout the
season may be influenced
by games already in play.
