A View from the Hill
John Hugh Currin, 72,
of Townsend, MT, passed
away on March 9, 2025, at
Helena, MT. A service will
be held at a later date, when
he will be laid to rest with
his family at Olney Ceme-
tery in Pendleton, OR.
John was born Novem-
ber 16, 1952, in Pendleton.
He grew up in Pendleton
and Heppner, OR, attending
school in Pendleton before
graduating from Heppner
High School in 1971.
John lived and worked
in Eastern Oregon before
moving to Montana. He
worked in real estate for
many years and enjoyed
spending summers working
with his farming friends in
Helix, OR. He had many
friends, liked working with
cattle and horses, and was
an excellent card and game
player.

(Gassman), an infant broth-
er, Joseph, and sister Ann
Marie Currin (Bob Hand).
Since the view from the Terrace is sunnier and the
air is warmer, more residents have returned to their walks
on the surrounding sidewalk. Welcome, Spring! This
change has also encouraged many residents to get out
their gloves, wanting to start planting in the flowerbeds
and the garden spot, but experts are suggesting that they
be patient a little longer.
A welcome also has gone out to new Resident Care
Associate Ti Reimann, who joined the community last
month. Everyone is eager to welcome another associate
and another cook, so interested persons should call 541-
676-0004 or drop by the Terrace for a discussion.
At least the weather now is more hospitable than what
greeted celebrants on Heppner’s St. Pat’s weekend! The
residents who chose to go down to watch the Great Green
Parade want the Les Schwab crew to know how much
they appreciated being able to watch from the warm lobby.
On Sunday, the sixth, everyone was excited to cele-
brate with Joyce Ward and her daughters and granddaugh-
ter as Joyce turned 94 years old. Of course, she had the
pleasure of selecting the menu for her birthday lunch.
The Rebekahs from Lexington hosted lunch on April
2. The menu featured salads, ham, rolls and a lemon
cake. During the gathering, the members presented the
Community on the Hill with a donation of $100 to help
in the purchase of plant and vegetable seeds and starts.
Following that lunch, LaRae Kindle stayed to call
Bingo and hand out prizes to the winners, and the orga-
nization now plans to offer Bingo every Wednesday at
the Terrace. This will be in addition to the Monday play
already offered interested residents every week.
Everyone looks forward to Easter on April 20, as they
will hold their annual egg hunt in the Terrace and enjoy
their traditional ham dinner, as well as choose to attend
various services in the community.
In May, Kathie Turner plans to bring her piano stu-
dents to the Terrace for some recitals, always a delight
enjoyed by all.
Residents who use internet services are delighted with
the recently added broadband service, thanks to donations
and assistance to make it happen! Another step into the
new and different has come with the installation of solar
panels on the Terrace roof. Everyone is eager to learn the
ins and outs of this technology.
Recently established, the Resident Council members
meet monthly with the administration to share the ideas
and suggestions with which residents have contacted
them. Everyone at Willow Creek Terrace is invited to feel
a sense of ownership in what their “home” has to offer,
and the recently formed Resident Council is viewed as
an important tool for attaining this.
