Inspiring Rodeo Cowgirl Amberley Snyder
Shares Her Story with Ione High School

at its school assembly last
Wednesday.
Snyder’s story was in-
spirational for the students
who attended. A profession-
al barrel racer, Snyder was
paralyzed at the age of 18,
yet she went on to ride and
rodeo again.
Snyder first got on a
horse at the age of three,
and was competing in bar-
rel racing by the age of
seven. While barrel racing
was her specialty, she also
competed in pole bending
and breakaway roping. In
2009, she won the 2009
All-Around Cowgirl World
Championship in the Na-
tional Little Britches Rodeo
Association.
In 2010, Snyder was
driving from Utah to Colo-
rado when tragedy struck.
She rolled her pickup on
a Wyoming road and was
thrown from the pickup and
into a fence post, crushing
her T-12 vertebra. She was
left paralyzed from the
waist down.
That didn’t stop her
from living her dream,
however. With the help of
a seatbelt on her saddle and
some physical therapy, she
was back in competition a
year and a half later.
She won a fan exemp-
tion to compete in RFD-
TV’s The American Rodeo

horse, Power. She now
competes in the RAM Wil-
derness Circuit.

Netflix portrayed Snyder’s
story in the biopic Walk.
Ride. Rodeo. She per-
formed all the post-crash
horse stunts in the movie,
with her younger sister
Autumn performing the
pre-crash stunts.
Speaking to the students
in Ione, Snyder stressed the
fact that everyone has ob-
stacles to overcome but that
hard work and a positive
attitude will take you far.
She involved the stu-
dents during the assembly,
as well as taking the time
to answer questions. She
also paused for pictures and
autographs at the end of her
presentation.
The event was open
to middle school and high
school students but was
not a public event. Howev-
er, students from Condon,
Fossil, Arlington and Spray
schools also attended, re-
sulting in a huge turnout for
the Ione school event.
Funding from Commu-
nity Counseling Solutions,
Good Shepherd Hospital
and others helped make the
presentation possible.

The property is described as tax lot 134 of Assessor’s Map 4N 24. The property is zoned Space Age
Industrial (SAI) and is located west of the City of Boardman, south of Interstate 84 and east of Tower
Road. Kunze Lane bisects the middle of the parcel, located between proposed parcels 2 and 3. The
request is to replat Parcel 1 of Partition Plat 2014-05 into three parcels of the following approximate
acreages: 12.7 acres, 85.5 acres, and 208 acres. Criteria for approval include Morrow County Zoning
Ordinance Article 5 Land Partition Section 5.030 and 5.075 Replating.
