The Heppner Mustang
boys’ varsity basketball
team lost its only Blue
Mountain Conference
(BMC) game of the week
to the Stanfield Tigers by
the score of 59-25. The Ju-
nior Varsity boys also lost
to the Tigers by the score
of 52-42.
In the varsity game, a
close first quarter saw the
Tigers lead the game 14-9.
The second quarter was also
a close as Stanfield only
outscored the Mustangs 14-
10. That made the score of
the game 28-19 at halftime.
The second half is
where the Mustangs strug-
gled to score many points.
Heppner could only man-
age two points in the third
quarter and four points in
the fourth. The inability
to score the basketball and
allowing the Tigers to get
31 points in the half led to
a 59-25 Stanfield win.

Mustangs in scoring with
eight. He also had four
rebounds and four assists

game were Alakae Ro-

Jackson Coiner and Caylan
Proudfoot each had two
rebounds and one assist in
the game.
The JV team lost a
hard-fought game 52-42.
The game started out slowly
for the Mustangs as they
trailed 13-4 at the end of the
first quarter. Heppner and
Stanfield each scored 14
points in the second quarter
and the Tigers led the game
at halftime 27-18.
Heppner was outscored
15-10 in the third to trail
42-28 as the fourth quarter
started. In the final frame,
the Mustangs bounced back
and cut the Tiger lead to
only seven points with just
