SUMMARY: This measure authorizes the Town of Lexington to
collect a tax on motor vehicle fuel sold in the Town.
The purpose of this tax is to support ongoing
maintenance of streets in Lexington. The
maintenance of local streets is currently paid with
Lexington’s share of state gas tax funds, which are
declining and are no longer enough to support needed
maintenance of streets.
