Anyone wanting to re- move their own decorations from graves should do so before then. Everything removed by cemetery staff will be placed in the storage shed. Boardman appoints new public works director Calico Bones Wasteland Kings The free Music in the Parks events are back at the Boardman and Irrigon marina parks this summer, and coordinators say the lineup should keep things sizzling. The Wasteland Kings are on stage July 3 in Ir- rigon. Hailing from La Grande, they have been packing venues since 2008. Influenced by the sounds of Steve Earle, The Stones, Townes Van Zant, Muddy Waters and The Pogues, the Wasteland Kings add their own unique twist to a repertoire of popular music. Brady Goss performs on July 10 in Boardman. Goss was described from an early age as “piano phe- nom.” Today he is recog- nized as an electrifying entertainer. Brass Fire is back for a repeat performance on July 17 in Irrigon. Brass Fire’s large ensemble in- cludes saxophones, trum- pets, trombone, piano, bass, guitar, and drums. Be prepared for music made popular by a large variety of artists from Chicago to Earth Wind and Fire, or Elvis to Santana. Brass Fire spans a musical range from the Big Band era music through blues, soul and on to the rock music of the ‘70s and ‘80s. On July 24, One Trick Pony will be in Boardman. One Trick Pony is a tribute to the music of singer-song- writer Paul Simon. Michael has been touring the U.S. reg- ularly since 2008. Irrigon welcomes Cal- ico Bones on July 31. Cal- ico Bones is a folk, indie, Americana sister act from Wallowa, OR. This duo is known for its tight harmo- nies, rhythmic instrumenta- tion and variety. Finding in- spiration in multiple genres makes for a unique sound. Their style can range from soft, melancholy vocalizing to belting at the top of their lungs—and everything in between. The concerts are free to the public and begin at 7 p.m. on Monday nights. Visitors are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. The series is funded by the Morrow County Unified Recreation District and Portland General Electric and sponsored by the North Morrow Community Foun- dation. Prior to joining the city, Prag worked as the sites and utility supervisor for the Port of Morrow for 26 years. He grew up in Board- man and has also raised his family in Boardman. “I am excited and hon- ored to be selected as the public works director for the City of Boardman,” Prag said. “The past 16 months working as part of the team has prepared me to step in to this role and hit the ground running.
