The awards came from the following scholarship committees: The Heppner Elks Lodge presented the fol- lowing awards: Jacob Finch was award- ed first place in the Most Valuable Student Schol- arship at the local level for $700 and placed third at the district level for an additional $1,600 for a total of $2,300. Paul Lindsay placed second in the local Most Valuable Student Schol- arship, earning him $400. Paul was also awarded a Clarence Buchanan Schol- arship in the amount of $1,500, for a total of $1,900. Trevor Nichols placed third in the local Most Valuable Student contest, earning him $300 and was also awarded a Clarence Buchanan Scholarship for $2,500, for a total of $2,800. Brooklyn Wilson was awarded a Clarence Bu- chanan Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. Hailey Wenberg was also awarded a Clarence Buchanan Scholarship in the amount of $1,000. Community Counsel- ing Solutions scholarships of $2,000 each were award- ed to three Heppner Stu- dents—Brooklyn Wilson, Hailey Wenberg and Paul Lindsay. The Barney Lindsay Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Madison Palmer and Paul Lindsay at $500 each. The Bob and Bette Mc- Laughlin Education Foun- dation Scholarship was awarded to two Heppner seniors at $1,000 each— Madison Palmer & Paul Lindsay. The Dean & Mary Gil- man memorial scholarship is awarded to five Heppner seniors at $1,500 each, renewable for up to eight years. This year’s recipients were Jacob Finch, Jacob Lentz, Paul Lindsay, Mad- ison Palmer and Brooklyn Wilson The Nate Arbogast Me- morial Scholarship Fund of $1,000, compliments of the Inland Development Board, was awarded to eight se- niors—Daralynn Teeman, Hailey Wenberg, Trev- or Nichols, Jacob Lentz, Brooklyn Wilson, Madison Palmer, Jacob Finch and Paul Lindsay. The $1,000 Irvin & Millie Rauch Scholarship was awarded to Jacob Lentz. The Kemp Family FFA Scholarship of $500 went to Paul Lindsay. The Heppner Lions Club scholarship of $500 was awarded to seven stu- dents—Daralynn Teeman, Hailey Wenberg, Trevor Nichols, Jacob Lentz, Mad- ison Palmer, Jacob Finch and Paul Lindsay. The $1,000 Heppner Masonic Lodge scholarship was awarded to four stu- dents—Daralynn Teeman, Hailey Wenberg, Jacob Finch and Paul Lindsay. The Columbia Basin Billy Gentry Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Jacob Finch at $500. The Mid-Columbia Bus Company awarded one $500 scholarship to Jacob Lentz. The Pioneer Memorial Hospital Foundation award- ed three $500 scholarships in honor of Larry Mills— Trevor Nichols, Brooklyn Wilson and Paul Lindsay The South Morrow County Scholarship Board awarded eight scholarships of $1,000 to the following students: Katie Wilson, Daemon Worden, Daralynn Teeman, Trevor Nichols, Brooklyn Wilson, Madison Palmer, Jacob Finch and Paul Lindsay. The Stan Kemp Memo- rial Scholarship awarded one $500 scholarship to Jacob Finch. The Umatilla-Mor- row County Farm Bureau awarded one scholarship to Paul Lindsay at $500. The Heppner High School ASB scholarship of $250 each was presented to Trevor Nichols and Jacob Finch. The Ione American Le- gion and Auxiliary awarded one $500 scholarship to Paul Lindsay. The scholarships were awarded to seniors in the co-op’s service territory. Applica- tions were accepted from Condon, Ione, Fossil and Heppner high schools. This year’s recipients are Jacob Finch of Heppner, Bryce Rollins of Ione and Kalvin Rietmann of Ione. Jacob Finch is the son of Tripp and Julia Finch of Heppner. Jacob plans on studying mechanical engineering with the hopes of pursuing a career in the electrical/manufacturing field. He was an active member of drama, band, youth group, basketball, track and many other ac- tivities. Bryce Rollins is the son of Ed and Tricia Rollins of Ione. Bryce is considering a career as an electrician or in the field of engineering. Bryce enjoyed basketball, football and track and field in high school. He was a member of the National Honor Society, National Society of High School Scholars, and enjoyed be- ing a counselor at Tupper Outdoor School. Kalvin Rietmann is the son of Ed and Becky Rietmann of Ione. Kalvin intends to study fire science after high school. Kalvin is a volunteer with the Ione fire department and has taken wildland fire fight- ing classes. Kalvin was an active member of football, basketball, tennis, FFA and trapshooting.
