Pirates host Columbia
River Invitational
Chavez takes first in 200 meter
Riverside High School
hosted the Columbia River
Invitational in Boardman
last Friday. Placing first in
the 200 meter was sopho-
more Pedro Chavez with
a season record of 23.59.
Chavez also placed second
in the 400 meter with a
season record of 52.05 in
that event.
Also securing a top
spot on the podium for the
Pirates was senior Tyrese
Boyd, placing first in the
800g javelin with a personal
record of 177’2. Boyd also
placed third in the high
jump with a 5’ 10 season
record.
On the women’s side,
the 4x100 throwers relay
B team of Leslie Calderon,
Mikelle Kerns, Maddisen
Brandenburg and Aunika
Partlow placed third.

The Holly Rebekah Lodge in Lexington recently honored
local firefighters with an appreciation dinner at the lodge.

On March 29 Holly
Rebekah Lodge hosted an
appreciation dinner for the
Lexington firefighters and
their spouses for their ded-
ication and service to the
town.
The lodge is continuing
collecting cans and bot-
tles to raise funds for their
building project.
The lodge continues to
host dinner on the last Sun-
day of the month at 3 p.m.
The cost for dinner is $5 per
person. Bingo follows the
dinner at 3:30 p.m. A packet
of bingo cards for 10 games
is also $5. The winners of
each game are able to select
baked items as their prizes.
May 6 the semi-annual
craft/vendor bazaar, which
will be held in conjunction
with Lexington’s May Day
festivities. The sale goes
from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A
luncheon of soup, dinner
roll, cookie and drink will
be available for $5. Vendors
are still needed and can
contact Kirsten Espinola for
vendor space.
Lady Mustangs take
Cardinals place fourth
second at Boardman meet at Bruin Invite
The Heppner High
School track and field team
made its presence felt at the
Columbia River Invitation-
al in Boardman last Friday.
Mustang athletes stacked
the podium, placing in the
top three in several events
and littering the scoreboard
with personal and season
records.
In a field of 21, the
women’s team placed sec-
ond behind only Nyssa.
The Mustang men placed
seventh as a team out of a
field of 21.
Heppner junior Arianna
Worden topped the podium
for the women in the 1500
meter. In the 800 meter
race, it was all the Nichols
kids, with senior Trevor
Nichols placing first for the
men and sister Lily Nichols
placing first for the women.
Lily Nichols also placed
first in the women’s 3000
meter, while Trevor Nichols
placed second in the men’s
3000 meter.
Hallee Hisler placed
second in the 400 meter and
third in the 200 meter. The
women’s 4x400 relay team
also took second. Right
behind Arianna Worden
in the 1500 was freshman
Riley Archer. Worden took
second place behind Lily
Nichols in the women’s
3000 meter, and Irelynn
Kollman rounded out Hep-
pner’s domination in that
event by placing third.
Mustang freshman
Gage Hart took third in
the men’s 1500 meter race.
Also finishing third was the
men’s 4x400 relay team.

White Salmon last Friday,
April 14, to participate in
the Bruin Invite at Colum-
bia High School. The Ione
men took a solid fourth
place behind host Colum-
bia, Trout Lake and Hori-
zon Christian.Even
Several individual ath-
letes also made marks for
themselves by placing in
the tops of their events, of-
ten setting personal records.

meter and the 200 meter,

had several athletes fight
their way to the top of the
podium at the Columbia
River Invitational Meet in
Boardman last week.
Placing first in the
men’s 100 meter was Ja-
ton Black with a personal
record of 11.88. In the pole
vault, Jozen Byers placed
first with a distance of 11’0.
In the women’s events,
Sanyana Felipe placed third
in both the 400 meter and
the 1500 meter, setting
personal records in both
at 1:07.03 and 5:27.10 re-
spectively.
