The City of Heppner
Public Works is seek-
ing a Utility Worker. The
employee would be able
to operate light to heavy
equipment and some phys-
ical labor. This is a full
time position and the em-
ployee is expected to work
overtime with additional
pay as needed, to handle
emergencies and to be on
call. The position pay is
depending on certifications
held, qualifications and
possession of a CDL. The
starting salary will be $17-
$22 per hour DOQ. Ben-
efits worth up to $16,000
per year with annual wage
increases included. Ap-
plicants must be at least
18 years of age, possess a
valid Oregon driver’s li-
cense and have the ability
to obtain a CDL within 6
months of being hired.

rial Hospital in Heppner.
Starting rate for Tech I is
$22.75 - $25.11/hr; starting
rate for Tech II is $24.87
- $26.65/hr DOQ with in-
crease after 4-month pro-
bationary period.
The Maintenance Tech-
nician I helps with con-
struction projects, repairs
walls, ceilings and floors
as needed, helps move
heavy equipment and
bulky freight, maintains
grounds of District prop-
erties including mowing,
weeding, fertilizing, wa-
tering, trimming, and oth-
er landscape work, snow
removal, shoveling walks,
and other miscellaneous
duties. Minimum of high
school diploma or equiv-
alent and Oregon driver’s
license required.
The Maintenance Tech
II assists the Director with
managing and reporting
duties for equipment and
preventative maintenance
tasks in software program,
assists with care of boilers,
check of fire suppression
system, interior and exteri-
or construction and main-
tenance projects, grounds
maintenance, maintain or
schedule maintenance of
District’s fleet of vehicles,
assist with patient lift-
ing if requested and other
miscellaneous duties. Re-
quires an understanding of
electrical, plumbing, basic
carpentry, painting and
grounds keeping. Certifi-
cation in HVAC, electrical,
plumbing, landscaping or
facility maintenance or
education in related field
preferred.
Maintenance Techs must
be able to work in confined
spaces and high places.
Some heavy lifting. Suc-
cessful applicant will be
self-motivated and able to
work independently with
minimal direction and su-
pervision.
