als who are interested in
Conservative ideals and

The Drake Family gather for a reunion over Labor Day weekend
The family of Raymond
and Emma Drake got to-
gether for a reunion over
Labor Day weekend. The
event was held at the Doug
and Carley Drake Ranch.
Friday night
there were seventy-one in
attendance to enjoy Mexi-
can food by the local Taco
Truck. BBQ chicken and
roasts were served on Sat-
urday with eighty people
in attendance.
Cousins of all
ages traveled from Ha-
waii, Iowa, Wisconsin,
Minnesota, Utah, Idaho,
California, Washington
and Oregon. The oldest
in attendance was Clau-
dine Drake Warren from
Pocatello, ID. Claudine
turned 98 years old in Feb-
ruary. The youngest was a
month old from Portland,
OR. A 50 th wedding anni-
versary was celebrated by
Susan (Drake) and Tom
Ferguson
And a marriage proposal
was made by a cousin from
Iowa (she said yes!)
Several fami-
lies enjoyed playing golf,
pickleball, walking the
trails around the dam and
shopping in Heppner as
well as staying in the local
Airbnbs and Northwestern
Motel.
Ray and Emma
Drake moved to the Sand-
hollow area when their two
oldest children were ready
for high school. They
farmed there until their
retirement and then moved
into Heppner. Their
Son, Douglas, wife Grace
and family then moved to
the ranch to continue farm-
ing. Doug and Grace’s
son, Doug and wife Carley
have continued to live on
the farm and in the same
farmhouse
Built in 1904. Ray and
Emma’s children were
Raymond, Donald, Doug-
las, Claude and Claudine.

Drake family loves return-
ing to their roots and the
home where Grandma and
