Good News Only
By Doris Brosnan
Once again, wet weath-
er that offered periodic
breaks was a key player
in last weekend’s outdoor
events, but the Elks held
their annual Dads’ Day
games and lunch at Cuts-
forth Park. A different story,
one of sunshine and warm
temperatures, seems to be
shaping up for this coming
weekend’s return of the
Ukiah Rodeo, a first in
many, many years.
Last weekend, also, but
able to stay warm and dry in
an AirBnB log cabin on Up-
per Rhea Creek, six women
from the HHS Class of ‘61
relaxed with “good food,
fun, and friends.” Most of
the current thirteen women
of that class had been able
to enjoy a weekend togeth-
er once a year for many,
many years, but this was
their first in almost three
years because of the pan-
demic. Covid continued to
preclude one alum’s plan,
and other health issues and
conflicting schedules also
interfered, so only six wom-
en were able to head for the
Thorn Creek Lodge last

Next Saturday, Dr. Em-

have completed her three-

year Family Practice Resi-
dency in Boise, ID. She and
eleven other doctors will be
honored for their comple-
tions of their programs, and
fully certified Dr. Jack will
be ready to start practice in
Pendleton soon. She and
husband, Keenan, who is a
CPA employed by Colum-
bia Basin Electric, wish to
settle in the Heppner area.
Kudos to Blane Ma-
honey, who has qualified in
steer wrestling to compete
in the National High School
Rodeo finals in Wyoming
next month. Good luck.
Kudos to HHS base-
ball players named to the
all-league first team: Toby
Nation, Kasen Cimmiyotti
and Cameron Proudfoot.
And Nation and Cimmiyotti
also earned second-team
all-state honors.

Bobby attended Cleve-

listed. After his discharge,
they made their home in
Portland near friends and
family.
Bobby got his welding
certification and started
working at Gunderson in
Portland. He later joined the
Boilermaker’s Union and
worked on steam turbines
as a welder at locations all

He will be remem-
bered as an extremely
loving grandfather who
loved spending time with
his grandkids. There were
many summer days spent
with grandpa fishing at
Anson Wright Park.
