A memorial graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on June 11, 2022, at the Hep- pner Masonic Cemetery in Heppner, OR. Lyle was born March 12, 1952, at Council Bluffs, IA, the son of Donald James a n d K a t h l e e n G e o rg e Green. The family left Iowa and lived in several states following construction jobs. Lyle started school in Eagle, ID and attended schools at The Dalles, be- fore graduating from Pend- leton High School in 1970. Lyle fished several sea- sons in southeast Alaska with his friend Jim Ol- son and drove long haul trucks for several years. He worked many years for Pendleton Grain Grow- ers, driving for Hermis- ton Agronomy, Hermiston Trucking Department, and the Mc Kennon Seed Plant. After retiring he drove in harvest for his nephew, Jeff Harth. In 1980, a son Andrew was born, and daughter Tana was born in 1988. On June 10, 1995, Lyle married Jo Jean Stevens and became stepfather to her son, Kyle Daley. Survivors include Lyle’s wife, Jo Jean; son, Andrew; daughter, Tana; stepson, Kyle; his mother, Kate Greene; his sister, Susan Pollock and her hus- band, Bob; brother, Clint Green and his wife Becky; Cliff Greene and his wife Julie, Mark Greene and his wife Tammy; his father and mother-in-law, Bob and Judy Stevens; brother-in- law, John Stevens; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. July 10 will have the Brass Fire Band, a 10-piece horn band from eastern Oregon. The final concert to be held August 14, featuring the James Dean Kindle band playing rock and Americana music. The Heppner Youth Basketball Camp will be held June 15, 16 and 17 at the Heppner High School gym. There will be no cost for participants due to spon- sorship provided by the Heppner Booster Club. The camp, for boys and girls, grades three through 12, will feature Wilsonville coach Chris Roche. Coach Roche and his team just won the 2022 OSAA 5A state basketball champi- onship. May temps average cooler than normal According to prelim- inary data received by NOAA’s National Weath- er Service in Pendleton, temperatures at Heppner averaged much cooler than normal during the month of May 2022. The average tempera- ture was 51.4 degrees which was -5.5 degrees cooler than the normal av- erage temperature for this month. High temperatures averaged 62.3 degrees with the high of 74 degrees being recorded on the 27 th . Low temperatures averaged 40.5 degrees with the low of 31 degrees being recorded on the 10 th . There were four days when the low tempera- ture was below 32 degrees Precipitation was much above normal during May, totaling 2.95 inches, which was 1.24 inches above nor- mal. Precipitation of at least .01 inch was reported on eight days. The heaviest amount of precipitation was 1.04 inches, which was reported on the 29 th .
