Wrestling team competes at Pendleton tournament
Ty Boor finished 7 th in his weight bracket.
The Heppner Mustang
wrestling team competed
in the Rollin Schimmel
Memorial Wrestling Tour-
nament on December 22.
The tournament, held in
the Pendleton Convention
Center, included 16 teams
ranging in classification
from 2A to 5A.
Roen Waite took 2 nd in the 120 lb. bracket.
Roen Waite, a senior,
finished the highest for the
Mustangs. He ended the day
with a 2-1 record and earned
second place in the 120-lbs
bracket. Tyler Boor went
2-2 in the 152-lbs bracket
and finished seventh. Saul
Lopez, also competing in
the 152-lbs bracket, went
2-1 and earned ninth place.
Kylie Holden finished in
10 th place in her bracket.
Conor Brosnan, Cade
Cunningham and Nathan
Ellsworth finished 15 th , 11 th ,
and 14 th respectively in their
weight brackets.

The Heppner Mustang
Boys’ Basketball program
hosted the 9 th annual HHS
Alumni Basketball games
recently. Although short
in numbers this year, the
women’s game was full of
nice plays and passes. The
“more experienced” team
won this year by a score of
45-29. The men’s game was
a back and forth affair with
many lead changes. It was
a physical battle throughout
and featured some out-
standing play from many
former Mustang players.
The “older” men beat the
“young guns” this year by
a score of 91-86.
For the winners in the
women’s game, with the
white uniforms on in the
picture, Alexis Wofford led
the team in scoring with
22 points. Shelley McCabe
followed with 15, Brooke
Carnine and Brenna Rust
each had four points for
the victors. Leading the
scoring for the young girls’
team was Sydney Wilson
with 17. Jessica Kempkin
followed with six and Kelly
Wilson was next with four
points. Madelyn Nichols
finished the game with two
points.
In the hotly contested
men’s game, the oldies in
the blue jerseys in the group
picture, were led in scoring
by Aaron Griffith with 19
points. Jeremy Rosenbalm
was next with 15 and Blake
Knowles had 12. Stefan
Matheny followed with 10
points, Rocky Turner had

nine and CJ Kindle was
next with eight. Randy Car-
nine chipped in six points
while Shane Matheny, Bri-
an Rill and Pat Collins had
four points each.

For the “young guns”
team in the white jerseys,
Tyler Carter torched the
nets for 33 points. Hunter
Nichols and Mason Leh-
man were next in scoring
with 10 points each. Logan
Grieb finished with nine
points and Jake Lindsay had
seven. Scoring five points
each were Jackson Lehman
and Ryan Polaski. Gibson
McCurry was next with
four and Beau Wolters had
three points in the game.
