Irrigon schools were
advised to follow their pro-
tocol and go into “secure”
status on September 29
after a male subject fought
with Morrow County dep-
uties and escaped on foot.
A call came into the
Morrow County Commu-
nication Center at approxi-
mately 2 p.m. on September
29 reporting a disturbance
on Utah Street in Irrigon.
The caller declined to an-
swer any further questions
and then hung up. Two
Morrow County Sheriff’s
Office (MCSO) deputies
were on scene within two
minutes and contacted the
male subject, who fought
with them. After he es-
caped, four more deputies,
a Umatilla PD officer, Ore-
gon State Police, Morrow
County Parole and Proba-
tion and the MCSO K9 unit
began tracking the subject.
Following tips from
witnesses, several area res-
idences and outbuildings
were searched. The subject
was located at a residence
on Utah Street and taken
into custody. Kevin Alvarez
Montelongo, 21, of Irrigon,
was arrested and charged
with Disorderly Conduct
II, Criminal Trespass II,
Resisting Arrest, Escape
II, Escape III, Assaulting
a Police Officer (X2) and
Burglary I. He was lodged
in the Umatilla County Jail
with a bail of $148,500.
