Men’s Play
Sixteen players par-
ticipated in men’s play on
Sunday, August 29 at Wil-
low Creek Country Club.
In special events, Kelly
Fox got KP on #4-13 with
10’4” and Dennis Peck got
the ball in the hole for KP
second shot on #6-15.
Ron Bowman took first
in gross with 66. Derek
Gunderson was second with
69 and Barry Munkers was
third with 70. Tim Wright
and Dave Gunderson tied
for first in net with 57 and
Jim Bleth was third with 58.
The next Sunday men’s
play will be September
5 and will be hosted by
Dave Creswick and Steve
Marlatt. The cross-country
tournament will be the next
Sunday, September 12 and
will conclude men’s play
for the year.
Over the Tee Cup
Virginia Grant took low
gross of the field at the Wil-
low Creek Country Club la-
dies play day on August 24.
Low net of the field winner
was Karen Haguewood and
Corol Mitchell had the least
putts. The cool day hosted
nine ladies.
For flight A, Corol
Mitchell got the long drive
and longest putt.
Shirley Martin won
low gross for flight B and
Pat Dougherty got low net
and the long drive. Shirley
Martin also had the longest
putt and a chip-in.
Flight C winners were
Kris Linder for low gross
and Lorene Montgomery,
low net. Jean Creswick had
the least putts and the long
drive.
The Eddi Skow/WCCC
ladies club championship
will be held August 31 and
September 1. Ladies must
sign up in advance to play.

Along with his love of
Heaven’s Angels are
now rejoicing to the sound
of Steven Bruce Sather
playing his guitar as he
entered God’s Heavenly
Angel Band on Monday,
August 23, 2021, at 69
years of age.
Steven was born in
Redmond, OR on May 23,
1952, and was preceded
in death by his father, Al-
vin E. Sather and mother,
O’Dellia Sather. He is sur-
vived by his son, Steven B.
Sather, Jr. of Salado, TX;
daughter, Jennifer Watts of
Baton Rouge, LA; brother,
Alvin W. Sather and wife
Geraldene and niece, April
Sather of Georgetown; and
nephew, Wm. B. Sather
and wife Maria of Round
Rock, as well as numerous
extended family members.
Steven’s school years
were spent at T.G. Terry
Elementary in Dallas, TX
where he resided at that
time. He learned how to
play the clarinet from his
musical father who had
taught him the music to
the song “Stranger on the
Shore.” It was known by
his family that he learned
it so well that he performed
before his school mates at
T. G. Terry. That was only
the beginning of his love
for music. Steven went on
to finish grade school and
part of high school in Dallas

tertainment, music, rides,
commercial vendors and a
wide variety of food and
attractions.

graduated from Heppner
High School in 1970.
After graduation, Steve
continued with his love
of music and had become
quite an accomplished gui-
tarist. He played in several
bands during this period
of his life and at one point
during the 70s was the lead
guitarist for the Louisiana
Rock band, Potliquor out
of Baton Rouge, LA. He
was known by many in the
musical industry as one of
the very best guitarists and
was inducted into the State
of Louisiana Music Hall of
Fame on October 27, 2013.
Aside from his musical
career, he spent 23 years
employed as a machinist
with SPM, Inc. of George-
town, TX. During this time,
he made many friends in the
Georgetown area and was
like family to all those who
knew him. “He was friend-
ly, talented, funny as all
heck and loved by many,”
said a family member.
In lieu of local services,
Steve’s wishes were to be
cremated and to have his
ashes strewn in the Wallowa
Mountains near Joseph,
OR. Donations may be
made in his memory to the
Georgetown Caring Place
(Texas) or to your favorite
charity.

St. Patrick’s Catholic
