David J. Nagel was
called home January 8,
2021 at the age of 74 to be
with his daughter, Brenda,
brother, Larry and parents,
Chester and Pearl Nagel.
David was a native
of Washougal, WA and
graduated from Washougal
High School in 1964. After
school he went to work for
Crown Zellerbach in Cam-
as, WA where he worked
until he retired in 2005.
Always loving the
outdoors and sports, ev-
ery spring would find him
in eastern Oregon fishing
and come summer in the
dunes of southern Oregon
in his sand rail or mountains
of eastern Oregon riding
quads. He enjoyed building,
dreaming and driving his
sand rail through the dunes.
When teaching the kids and
grandkids how to drive, sit-
ting around a campfire and
eating dingdongs, he was
in his element. “Although
Sunday afternoons were
for football (go Raiders)
and NASCAR (Jeff Gor-
don), most of all he loved
his family,” stated a family
member.
One of his camping
trips brought him through
Heppner to the OHV park.
He stopped in for break-
fast and bought a house
instead. He and his wife
moved to 345 Gilmore in
2005 and stayed in Morrow
County until David became
paralyzed from a stroke
and could no longer return
home.
Although his smile will
be missed, his memory
lives on in his wife, Di-
ann and his four children,
Randy, James, Heath and
Dominique. He also leaves
behind 19 grandchildren, 12
great-grandchildren, foster
children, exchange students
and street kids they took
in. Also surviving are three
brothers and a sister, nu-
merous cousins and many
friends.
A celebration of life is
planned for September 11,
2021 at 1:30 p.m. at the
Fallen Leaf Park in Camas,
WA. Everyone is welcome
and a potluck lunch will be
available.
