Members & Guests Only By Doris Brosnan As Covid-19 restric- tions have relaxed in Hep- pner, Willow Creek Terrace residents have again been able to receive visitors, much to the delight of everyone. Administrator George Nairns optimisti- cally looks forward to this positive situation continu- ing, though past months’ changing protocols some- times felt like a roller coast- er ride up and down almost weekly. Nairns credits the staff at the Terrace in part for the improved visiting conditions. The employees have played a major role in the safety of residents at the Terrace, as they have re- mained conscientious about the necessary steps they have had to take at work and away from work to keep the facility free of the virus threat. Hats off to full-time and part-time em- ployees: Sam Fisher, Kim Hendricks, Katilyn Zinter Aundrea Pirtel, Alice Ra- gan, Trevor Antonucci, Les- lie Cross, Cyndi Johnson, Heather Phyllips, Tiffany Akers, Ivalee Haas, Nicole Myers, Kassidy Hendricks, Anna Grace Wenberg, and Yurtize Ella. And nurses Stephanie Derowitz and Molly Rhea have also been major players in the health of the residents. Anyone wishing to visit someone at the Terrace must call the office, 541- 676-0004, to set up a vis- iting appointment, as some conditions must still be met. Important is this call to the office, not to a resident, as the staff are the persons who have the schedule and pro- tocol information necessary for setting up visits. During last month, two new residents joined the community on the hill. Both Faye Seitz and Bev Harris have been long-time area citizens, so they were immediately familiar with several faces of their new neighbors. They moved into the Terrace in time to help celebrate a favorite event-a birthday! Joyce Ward turned 90 on April 6 and welcomed family members and her neighbors to her birthday lunch. (This was the first time in months that family members were able to join for a birthday celebration!) Interest in the out-of- doors and flowerbeds and the garden spot is quite widespread at the Terrace this spring. Evidence of this includes the plant starts in small pots now gracing the sunroom counters and the report of seeds having been planted in the back beds. The daffodils that greet arrivals front and back are cheerful reminders of more colors and blossoms to come. April 1 was a reminder, as always, of previous res- ident Velma Wight. Nairns and staff familiar with Vel- ma remember vividly her delight in successfully fool- ing them on every April Fools’ Day. Nairns says that they could count on her to “get them,” but they just didn’t know how or when. On Easter, the Terrace residents enjoyed the annu- al inside egg hunt, and they continue to enjoy the butter- fly ornaments that hang on their apartment doors. $300,000 david@sykesrealestate.net 541-980-6674 A classic beauty in Heppner.
