Candidates announced for May election
An election held for the
purpose of electing board
members to fill positions
and terms for various dis-
tricts will take place on
May 18, 2021 in Morrow
County. Terms of office will
begin June 30, 2021 and run
for four years. Vacancies in
the districts would be for
the remainder of the unex-
pired term, making those a
two-year term. Ballots for
the May election will be
mailed April 28, accord-
ing to county clerk, Bobbi
Childers.

Morrow County Dis-
trict Attorney Justin Nelson
has released the following
report:
-Austin Jeffery Hin-
richsen was convicted of
reckless driving - class A
misdemeanor offense and
unlawful possession of a
schedule 2 controlled sub-
stance. He was sentenced
to 24 months bench pro-
bation, 180 days jail with
180 days suspended upon
successful completion of
probation for each count,
80 hours of community
service work, drug pack-
age which includes drug
treatment evaluation and
comply with all treatment
recommendations, no pur-
chase of firearms during
probation, obey all laws and
court orders and pay $1,000
fines and fees.
ODOT seeks youth
litter crew
The Oregon Depart-
ment of Transportation is
looking for litter crews
to assist in cleaning up
highway rights of way and
other tasks that may be
assigned. The Youth Litter
Patrol (YLP) program was
founded in 1977, hiring
youth who are 16 or older
as litter crews.
Litter crews are hired as
temporary employees and
are not eligible for vacation
or leaves. Crews may work
full-time or part-time and
hours assigned my vary.
Most positions typically
start mid-June and may last
6-12 weeks.
Crew members must
be 16 or older and will earn
$14.75 per hour. Crew lead-
ers will be paid $15.20 per
hour and must be 18 years
or older. Crew members
and leaders must pass a
criminal background check
and leaders must also pass
driver license checks.
Applicants must have a
basic knowledge of spoken
and written English, be able
to pick up and bag litter,
be able to lift and carry
filled bags and be willing to
work in all types of weather
conditions in a safe manner
along roadways with vary-
ing levels of traffic.
