to vet school

Jaiden Mahoney, a
2019 Heppner High School
graduate, has been offered
early admittance into the
Washington State Univer-
sity College of Veterinary
Medicine in Pullman, WA,
under a special accelerated
program of study. Applica-
tion for the program was by
invitation from the WSU
Department of Animal Sci-
ence, and after interviews,
Jaiden earned one of ten
available spots. She will
begin attending veterinary
school a year early, in the
fall of 2022.
Jaiden’s undergraduate
degree will be in Animal
Science and she will be
focusing her veterinary
studies in equine and large
production animals. Ma-
honey earned the WSU
President’s honor roll both
terms last year with a 4.0
GPA. She is a member of
the WSU Cougar Cattle
Feeders Club and partici-

The Stokes Landing
board of directors has an-
nounced the center will
begin serving meals to
go Monday, October 26.
These meals will be pre-
pared at the senior cen-
ter and served in a drive-
through at Stokes Landing
in Irrigon.
Each meal will be de-
livered to individuals at
the front of the building
on Mondays. (Please watch
for directional signs when
picking up your order.)
Pick-up for these meals
will be between 12 noon
and 12:30 each Monday.
Payment will be accepted
with correct change only
or by check. Each meal for
those 60 years of age and
over is $4 and $5 for indi-
viduals under 60.
To order a Monday
meal, call 541-922-3334
by 3 p.m. on the Friday pre-
ceding the Monday meal.
The first date to order is
Friday, October 23. Callers
should leave their name,
number of meals requested
and their phone number.
Pre-orders are required for
meal pick-up.
Social distancing
guidelines will provide
safety for staff and individ-
uals picking up meals.
