September warmer Marriage Licenses
than normal
The Morrow County Clerk’s office has released the
following report of marriage licenses:
September 9, 2020: - Abraham Francois Wepener,
29, Arlington, and Christine Marie Germain, 38, Arling-
ton.
September 24, 2020: - Marissa Nicole Pratt, 23,
Lacey, WA, and Layne Bruce Sutten, 25, Lacey, WA.
Ronald Eugene Seufert, Jr., 46, Irrigon, and Heidi
Leanne Underhill, 46, Irrigon.
September 28, 2020: - Donald Grant Matthews, 27,
Heppner, and Shelby Elizabeth Garrett, 28, Heppner.
According to prelim-
inary data received by
NOAA’s National Weath-
er Service in Pendleton,
temperatures at Heppner
averaged warmer than nor-
mal during the month of
September.
The average tempera-
ture was 64.7 degrees which
was 3.1 degrees above nor-
mal. High temperatures av-
eraged 78.6 degrees, which
was 2.0 degrees above nor-
mal. The highest was 95
degrees on the 5 th . Low
temperatures averaged 50.8
degrees, which was 4.2
degrees above normal. The
lowest was 38 degrees, on
the 8 th . On five days, the
temperature exceeded 90
degrees.
Precipitation totaled
0.11 inches during Septem-
ber, which was 0.45 inches
below normal. Measurable
precipitation, at least .01
inch, was received on two
days with the heaviest, 0.07
inches reported on the 24 th .
Precipitation this year
has reached 6.95 inches,
which is 2.99 inches below
normal. Since October, the
water year precipitation
at Heppner has been 8.33
inches, which is 5.67 inches
below normal.
The outlook for Octo-
ber from NOAA’s Climate
Prediction Center calls for
above normal temperatures
and above normal precip-
itation. Normal highs for
Heppner fall from 71.0 de-
grees at the start of October
to 58.0 degrees at the end
of October. Normal lows
fall from 42.0 degrees to
35.0 degrees. The 30-year
normal precipitation is 1.14
inches.

Death Notice
Grace A. Baker – Grace A. Baker, 87, of Lexington,
died Monday, October 5, 2020 at Heppner. She was born
on March 2, 1933 at Monument, OR. A graveside memo-
rial service will be held Friday, October 9 at 11 a.m. at the
Lexington Cemetery, (state guidelines for Covid 19 will
be followed). A complete obituary will be published in a
subsequent issue of the Heppner Gazette-Times. Sweeney
Mortuary of Heppner is in care of arrangements.

Over the Tee Cup
The Willow Creek
Country Club ladies held
their fall fun day and bi-an-
nual meeting on September
29. At the meeting, the
awards were presented to
the Eddi Skow/Ladies Club
championship tournament.
After the business meet-
ing, 13 ladies enjoyed the
final day playing a short
cross-country scramble.
The winners of the
Eddi Skow/Ladies Club
championship were Nancy
Propheter for overall low
gross, Eddi Skow, Virginia
Grant with overall low net,
Ladies Club and Karen
Haguewood senior divi-
sion low gross. Year long
special event winners were
Nancy Propheter for birdies
and Karen Haguewood for
chip-ins.
First place winners for
the scramble were Virginia
Grant and Kris Lindner.
Second place went to Sha-
ron Harrison and Sarah
Rucker and third was Karen
Haguewood, Jeanne Cres-
wick and Sue Edson.
New officers for the
2021 season were elected
with Virginia Grant as pres-
ident, Jeanne Creswick as
vice-president and Tiffany
Clement as secretary-trea-
surer. The board members
are Judy Harris, Sharon
Harrison and Karen Hague-
wood.
October play will be
available for anyone who
is interested with tee times
starting at 9 a.m. The Tues-
day ladies playdays will
begin April 6. A bi-annual
meeting will be held at 10
a.m. followed by nine holes
of golf.
Local student
named to OSU
honor roll
Morgan Orem, Hep-
pner, made the Scholastic
Honor Roll for summer
term 2020 at Oregon State
University. Orem is a senior
and is studying Agricultural
Sciences.
A total of 1,207 stu-
dents earned a B-plus (3.5)
or better to make the listing.
To be on the Honor Roll,
students must carry at least
12 graded hours of course
work.
