We are being played
To the editor,
I understand and ap-
preciate the local effort to
meet Governor Brown’s
dictates in order to open up
our way of life and bring the
COVID-19 numbers down.
Wear the mask. Social dis-
tance. Limit, cancel or post-
pone funerals, weddings
and celebrations. No more
back yard barbeques, so-
cial gatherings and private
birthday parties. We are told
if we would just work hard-
er, be more compliant, and
stay away from one another
we could regain our liberty
and freedom. Sorry to be
the postman of bad news
but it’s not going to happen.
We are being played.
Commissioner Doherty
said it best, “To see our
‘partner’ stand upon our
money and chastise us was
disheartening.” Understand
this: Governor Brown has
recently announced dras-
tic upping of COVID-19
testing. You can have all
Morrow County citizens
hibernate and the numbers
will continue to escalate.
Know why? Follow the
money. For every posi-
tive COVID-19 test re-
sult, the state of Oregon
(i.e. Gov. Brown) receives
$220,000. (See beckerhos-

19-case.) The Democratic
states in America are racing
to up the COVID-19 num-
bers to gain more police
state control and capture
the $30,000,000,000 HHS
Coronavirus Aid Relief
fund. Governor Brown con-
trols these massive funds
(and the test results) that
Oregon counties now re-
alize will never be spent
to help rural Oregon citi-

These COVID-19 funds
under Dictator Brown are
funding the socialist/Marx-
ist takeover of Oregon and
America.
Our constitution, that
these Democrat politicians
will not honor or uphold,
still grant’s citizens the
right to peacefully protest
when our liberty and free-
dom is abused, denied and
unequally applied. These
corrupt Oregon politicians,
that are usurping our in-
dividual liberty and small
businesses; are still ac-
countable to the people.
Have we not the courage
to stand against their phony
COVID-19 money scam
that forces our face mask
submission? Understand
this. If we will not stand
against this corruption and
tyranny now it will get
worse and soon. Just pic-
ture Oregon and America
when ICE is abolished,
the police are defunded,
our borders are eliminat-
ed, voting rights are given
to illegal immigrants and
felons, Brown’s OSHA
makes masks mandatory
indefinitely and violent
rioters are financed, incited
and encouraged across the
once fruited plains.
Pray for President Don-
ald Trump. This man of
courage and conviction is
all that is standing between
liberty and the Constitu-
tional end of America: One
nation under God paid for

age and the blood of our

I appreciate your news-
paper piece, Jim (Doherty);
it is straight on target. Keep
up your fine leadership.
(“Governor’s treatment of
counties ‘disheartening’
says commissioner” in the
August 26 Heppner Ga-
zette-Times).
The amount of chica-
nery and deceit that has
occurred by Kate Brown
(Governor), Tina Kotek
(House Speaker) and Peter
Courtney (Senate Presi-
dent), the so-called “lead-
ership” of the State of Or-
egon, in commanding the
dispersal of $1.33 billion
in Coronavirus Relief Fund
(CRF) dollars is appall-
ing. That they, patroniz-
ingly and paternalistically,
would squander it into their
most-favored rat-holes is
deeply disturbing. Much, if
not most, of the funding in-
tended for counties and cit-
ies other than in Multnomah
and Washington Counties
(who received their shares
directly) has been divert-
ed by “leadership” right
back into Multnomah and
Washington Counties. Any
confidence I have had in our
“leadership” is gone.
Perhaps, it is time
that rural counties say to
our governor, “No more!
Stay out of our territories.
You have failed; we are
stepping in. We will man-
age our own pandemic, our
own economies, our own
schools. Our ‘experts’ are
as good as your ‘experts.’
Since you like the term,
call us a sanctuary.” It may

Sitting here watching
KOIN channel six noon
reports on the so-called
“peaceful” demonstrations
in Portland. During a break,
an ad for the Twilight Zone
was streamed. How ap-
propriate. It makes no dif-
ference which of the four
Portland TV stations we
watch, we must endure the
same talking points their
news directors obtain from
leftist New York Times and
the Washington Post.
I truly have sympathy
for many of the news broad-
casters that must regurgitate
this slanted news every day
to keep their jobs.
I cringe watching Gov-
ernor Brown and her cro-
nies mouth their concerns
about losing our democracy
because President Trump
sent law enforcement into
Portland to protect Fed-
eral buildings that Mayor
Ted Wheeler admitted he
prohibited Portland Police
from attempting to control
the situation.
It takes a lot of gall for
Governor Brown to opine
about losing our democracy
when her mediocre reign
along with her elitist cadre
have ground any semblance
of Oregon’s democracy into

tire state. Thankfully, the
republicans in the Senate
stopped this bill and asked
for a statewide vote. Gover-
nor Brown exposed her true
oligarchical mentality by
instituting this legislation
by Executive Action, sad-
dling all Oregonians with
this huge tax and making it
so the voters were unable to
vote on it.
Years ago, I lived in
Beaverton and worked in
beautiful downtown Port-
land, known world-wide as
the City of Roses. Friends
of ours throughout Oregon
and beyond are dismayed
at the demise of Portland.
Sadly, Portland has now
morphed from the Rose

Pertaining to the CRF, I
see very little that the State
of Oregon and OHA have
done for Umatilla County
that we could not have
managed better or, at least,
as well on our own had our
population-based share of
funding been distributed to
us from the State portion
as Congress intended. Con-
gress intended for State
of Oregon to distribute
45 percent (U.S. Treasury
guidelines) of the CRF
grant received to the rest
of the counties (other than
Multnomah and Washing-
ton) on a population-based
formula. They didn’t. Foul.
Even the precious little
funding that did find its way
to “the rest of us” counties
and cities (other than in
Multnomah and Washing-
ton) came in a slow form of
reimbursement; the coun-
ties had to first expend the
funds with the hopes that it
might be reimbursed. We,
then, had to ‘beg mommy’
at predetermined intervals
to pay us back; then, with
hope, sit and wait. Smaller
counties and cities had no
capacity to ‘front the mon-
ey’ and expectantly wait
for reimbursement; there
were no funds to ‘float’
it. So, needs went unmet.
