For Public/Legal Notices: public/legal notices deadline is Monday at 5 p.m. Dates for pub-
lication must be specified. Affidavits must be required at the time of submission. Affidavits
require three weeks to process after last date of publication (a sooner return date must be
specified if required).
For Obituaries: Obituaries are published in the Heppner GT at no charge and are edited to
meet news guidelines. Families wishing to include information not included in the guidelines
or who wish to have the obituary written in a certain way must purchase advertising space
for the obituary.
For Letters to the Editor: Letters to the Editor MUST be signed by the author. The Heppner
GT will not publish unsigned letters. All letters MUST include the author’s address and phone
number for use by the GT office. The GT reserves the right to edit letters. The GT is not
responsible for accuracy of statements made in letters. Any letters expressing thanks will
be placed in the classifieds under “Card of Thanks” at a cost of $10.
Pastors hope to
schedule Easter
service
Singspiration, sched-
uled for March 29 has been
cancelled due to the Coro-
navirus and being unable
to gather in large numbers.
At this time, the pastors of
the South Morrow Coun-
ty Ministerial Association
(SMCMA) are still hoping
to hold the Easter Sunrise
Service on April 12.
The pastors of SMC-
MA are concerned about the
spiritual needs, as well as
physical needs, of the com-
munity and will be avail-
able to assist. The pastors

Ione Legion to hold County hires new
absentee fundraiser transportation
coordinator
The fundraiser sched-
uled for April 4 by the
Ione Legion and Auxiliary
will not be held at the hall
but will instead be held
as an absentee fundraiser.
Raffles already in progress
will be conducted through
the mail and social media,
with tickets still available to
purchase for $1 each or six
for $5. Those who planned
to attend the event are also
asked to send in one-half of
the amount they intended
to spend at the event as a
donation.
Although the interac-
tion and fellowship of get-
ting together is impossible,
the Legion still needs help.
The money earned at the
fundraiser is used to pay
for insurance, supplies and

Heppner Chamber lunches for April 2 and 16 have
been cancelled due to the current COVID-19 require-
ments. They are currently working on an online candi-
date’s forum.

Morrow County has
hired Katie Imes as the new
transportation coordinator
for The Loop. Imes has
over 10 year of service ex-
perience as the supervisor/
team leader of the non-prof-
it organization “Because
People Matter.” She took
over the position on March
9 from Anita Pranger, who
recently retired.
Katie is looking for-
ward to meeting current
riders and reaching out
to those who may not be
familiar with The Loop.
She said, “I am excited to
be a part of a program that
provides a vital service to
the public. Looking ahead,
I will be focusing on main-
taining the current program
and assisting in the future
growth of The Loop, al-
lowing all Morrow County
residents to have access to
transportation.”
Imes was born and
raised in Hermiston and
then moved to the Willa-
mette Valley where she
lived for 15 plus years.
Katie and husband, Eric,
moved to Lexington in
2018 with their three chil-
dren Leighton, Lillian and
Luke. Leighton is attend-

nity college pursing a fire
science degree, Lillian is
a sophomore at Heppner
High School and Luke is
a third grader at Heppner
Elementary.
The Loop is dedicat-
ed to providing essential
rides during the Covid-19
pandemic. The Loop’s pro-
gram is driven, literally,
by volunteers. During the
pandemic, they are seek-
ing volunteers who are
healthy and able-bodied to
meet the county resident’s
transportation needs. Those

has transport vehicles in
Boardman, Irrigon and
Heppner.
Meal site shut down
The community meal
site at St. Patrick’s Senior
Center has been shut down
until May 4 due to the
Coronavirus. CAPECO
is following the directive
provided by Governor Kate
Brown, the Oregon Healthy
Authority and local health
departments.
In addition to meal clo-
sure, the entire St. Patrick’s
building has been locked
down to protect the tenants
who may have compro-
mised immune systems.

The Morrow County
Sheriff’s Office shared the
order released March 23
by Oregon Governor Kate
Brown indicating what is
allowed and what is not.
They said if you are not
sure about an activity, skip
it. Staying home as much
as possible during this time
will save lives.
Allowed (must keep 6
feet from others):
Hospitals and health
care, grocery stores, banks
and credit unions, pharma-
cies, take-out/delivery from
restaurants and bars, pet
stores, gas stations, certain
retail stores, outdoor activ-
ities like walking your dog,
jogging, or biking in your
neighborhood, child care
facilities and babysitters
(only if abiding by new
rules).

Social gatherings (par-
ties, celebrations) with
people from outside of
your household, dine-in

A motor home was totally destroyed by fire at approximately 8:30 p.m. Monday night in Lex-
ington. Lexington and Heppner Fire responded to the fully engulfed RV that was stalled on
the Arcade Street bridge near C Street. Debris resulting from the fire closed the street until
