The winter months saw
Morrow County 4-H complete
its first year of trap shooting
with 28 participants from
across the county ages 9-17. It
snowed, blew and hailed dur-
ing some of the practice shoots,
but this group was a dedicated
lot and often showed up in
snowmobile gear to get their
rounds in.
Of the 28 participants, 16
qualified for the state contest
and seven were able to attend
the state trapshooting event in
Albany June 18-19. Members
who attended the state contest
were Gage Heideman (Ione),
Radley Griggs (Boardman),
Aden Lathrop (Heppner),
Owen Guerra (Heppner), Con-
nor Wilson (Heppner), Carter
Eynetich (Ione) and Kalvin
Rietmann (Ione).
The 2020 season will be-
gin in January and the program
is going to work to offer rifle
skills in addition to trapshoot-
ing and will be coached by
volunteers Stan Cutsforth, Ed
Rietmann, Jim Eynetich and
Erin Heideman. There will be
an informational meeting for
families on Sunday, November
10 at 3 p.m. at the Extension
Office in Heppner and at 6 p.m.
at the Port of Morrow building
in the Sand Hollow Room.
