Internship Workshop. A

internship program makes

professionals to local busi-
nesses easier for both the
businesses and those seek-
ing employment. During
this workshop, employers
will learn how to attract
and retain interns by work-
ing together to develop a
county wide marketing and
outreach plan. The plan
will be developed over
the next year and ready
for implementation during
Summer 2020. This Com-
munity Internship Work-
shop is presented by the
McMinnville Economic
Development Partnership
by grants from The Ford
Family Foundation and the
Oregon Community Foun-

Leading up to Moth-
er’s Day, the Ione High
School greenhouse is start-
ing to swell with growing
plants. From geraniums
to bacopas, and from zin-
nias to petunias, the Ione
high school’s greenhouse is
ready to sell plants. Accord-
ing to a spokesperson, they
have beautiful plants and
hanging baskets that would
make perfect Mother’s Day
gifts.
The greenhouse will
have plants available May
9 after school from 3:30 to
6 p.m., Friday and Saturday,
May 10 and 11 from 7 a.m.
to noon and Sunday, May
12 from 1 to 5 p.m.
All proceeds from the
sale will be going towards
next year’s crop and soil
science classroom activi-

Planning
commission
approves permit
At the hearing held
April 30 in Boardman, the
Morrow County Planning
Commission approved a
request for a conditional
use permit which would
allow mining of aggregate
resources and processing
into Portland cement.
During the month of
April staff issued six de-
velopmental approvals that
will allow four new homes,
an agricultural shed and
a cooler warehouse. The
Morrow County board of
commissioners adopted
an update to the Morrow
County code enforcement
ordinance adding sections
addressing chronic nui-
sances and environmental
health. This new ordinance
was effective May 1, 2019
and will continue to support
code enforcement activ-
ity throughout Morrow
County. The Environmental

Boardman and Columbia and Patterson
Ferry in Irrigon area on and around June
3 to July 4th Morrow County Road Dept.

aware of the workers, they are very
important to us. Watch for signs, flags and
work-zone employees and equipment.
