The Pioneer Memorial
Hospital Foundation board
approved awarding Pioneer
Memorial Hospital a grant
in the amount of $15,600 to
purchase an AccuVein and
Biodex Sound Pro Com-
bination Table. The Ac-
cuVein will allow greater
ease when drawing blood
at the hospital as it allows
for vein visualization. The
table will be used for a new
service the hospital is pro-
viding, Echocardiography.
Echocardiography is an ul-
trasound that shows images
of the heart.
In other business the
board awarded $1,500
for the Dr. Wallace Wolff
Memorial scholarship to
Ryan Dougherty. Ryan is
attending Northern Arizona
University Communication
Sciences and Disorders
program to receive her
master’s degree in speech
language pathology.
Maddie Lindsay was
awarded the Earl and Ha-
zel Wilson Health Care
Education scholarship in
the amount of $1,500. Mad-
die has been accepted to
the University of Western
States to obtain her Doctor
of Chiropractic degree.
Kevin Murray was
awarded $1,250. Kevin is
attending OSU where he is
working toward an MBA
and Doctor of Pharmacy de-
gree. He has been admitted
into OSU College of Phar-
macy’s Early Assurance
Program.
Jessica Kempken was
awarded $1,250. She is
currently enrolled at OSU
working towards her bach-
elor’s degree in Bio Health
Sciences with a focus in
Pre-Pharmacy. Earl and Ha-
zel Wilson scholarships in
the amount of $1,000 were
awarded to Sophie Grant,
who is currently pursuing
a degree in optometry at
Pacific University; Taylor
Hamby who is attending
OSU and working toward
her plan to go to dental
school; Tania Mendoza
who is attending OSU for
pre-nursing and Beatriz
Aguilera at Lane Com-
munity College, also for
pre-nursing.
Others receiving schol-
arships in the amount of
$500 each were Susan-
na Teeman, Claire Grieb,
Hunter Nichols, Jacee Cur-
rin, Maria Aguilera and
Faith Rosen to help them
get started on the path to
careers in healthcare.
The Pioneer Memori-
al Hospital Foundation is
non-profit and any dona-
tions given to aid in grants
and scholarship are tax
deductible. For additional

For the tenth straight
spring, the Morrow Soil and
Water Conservation District
will host free spray days in
Morrow county. Stops are
scheduled in Boardman at
the Napa parking lot on
Monday, May 13; Irrigon
city park on Wednesday,
May 15 and Heppner city
park on Friday, May 17.
Times for all locations are required to complete a cooperative agreement. The
chemical can be used to treat weeds in the lawn without
