Petitions show Wenberg
support
To the editor:
The huge numbers who
have signed the petition
in support of Dr. Wenberg
are a testament to the com-
munity’s recognition of
the many ways that he has
served the people of Mor-
row County. There is no
doubt that he is valued and
wanted as an emergency
room doctor at the Pioneer
Memorial Hospital and I am
certain the Morrow County
Health District will be in
agreement when they see
the wide range of people re-
questing that he is retained.
The pending legal is-
sues regard Dr. Wenberg’s
plea to one count of federal
tax evasion. These petitions
will also clarify that this
community, although rela-
tively small in numbers, is
large in its advocation that
it is known by the court
that Dr. Wenberg has been
and remains a respected
member of Morrow County.
And for those who have
not yet seen one of the
petitions, they will now
be at various sites and it
is important that everyone
let their voice be heard by
signing then, because our
silence is never golden
to any court proceedings.
The more people who let
it be known that they want
Dr. Wenberg treated with
compassion and are asking
for a resolution that would
not adversely affect his con-
tinuing to serve as the ex-
cellent medical doctor that
he is, I am of the opinion
that this will be seriously
taken into consideration by
the court.
A community is not
a community unless we
stand together in supporting
Dr. Wenberg. We are not
just some of those eastern
Oregon small towns, with-
out any impact on what
happens. Together we can
have a positive influence
on the outcome of his legal
issues. I greatly appreciate
all those who are supporting
Dr. Wenberg and I look for-
ward to the others who will
be joining us.
