Gerald (Jerry) Allen
Davidson passed away at
his home on Jan. 16. He
was born Sept. 28, 1944
in Pendleton to George
Davidson and Anna Marie
Johnston. He was raised
by his grandmother, Mabel
Davidson on the farm out
of Ione.
He graduated from Ione
High School in 1962. Jerry
married Judy Morgan in
1964 and they moved to
Portland in 1965 where
he was a diesel mechanic
for several different truck
companies. They had two
children, Duane Davidson
and LaDawna Rider (Bob).
According to a family
member, Davidson enjoyed
his six grandkids and four
great-grandkids. He was
preceded in death by his
brother, Michael; parents
and grandmother. The fami-
ly will hold a celebration of
life this summer, with a date
and time to be provided at a
later date.
Larry Dwight Day
Larry Dwight Day, 83,
formerly of Pilot Rock,
died Sunday, March 3 at
his home in Heppner. A
memorial service will be
held on Saturday, March 9
at 11 a.m. at the Christian
Life Center in Heppner. A
reception will immediately
follow the service and the
public is invited.
Day was born July 11,
1935 at Lyman, NE, the son
of Abrey and Alice West
Day. The family moved to
Oregon when Larry was six
months old. They lived in
Oregon City and Molalla
where he graduated from
Molalla High School.
Larry worked as a
sheet metal worker and
was self-employed. On
March 14, 1969 he married
Charlene O’Brien at Ore-
gon City. March 14, 2019
would have been the 50 th
wedding anniversary for
Charlene and Larry.
He loved hunting,
spending time with family
and friends, going to the
mountains, following the
grandkids and great-grand-
kids sports activities and
time spent in his shop.
Larry is survived by
his wife, Charlene Day of
Heppner; stepsons, Rusty
Britt and his wife Kathy of
Lexington, Rick Britt and
his wife Shelli of Heppner;
step-daughter Mindy Britt
Costner, also of Heppner;
seven grandchildren and
nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in
death by his parents and
sisters, Caroline Day and
Cheryl Alphin.

normal. The highest was
53 degrees on the 3 rd . Low
temperatures averaged 21.3
degrees, which was 6.9
degrees below normal. The
lowest was 8 degrees, on
the 6 th . This was the 4 th cold-
est February on record. The
coldest was 22.4 degrees in
1936.
There were 26 days
with the low temperature
below 32 degrees. There
were 10 days when the high
temperature stayed below
32 degrees.
Precipitation totaled
3.20 inches during Febru-
ary, which was 2.08 inches
above normal. Measurable
precipitation, at least .01
inch, was received on 23
days with the heaviest, 0.53
inches reported on the 24 th .
Precipitation this year
has reached 4.26 inches,
which is 1.67 inches above
normal. This was the wet-
test February on record.
The previous wettest was
2.69 inches in 2000. Since
October, the water year pre-
cipitation at Heppner has
been 8.27 inches, which is
1.62 inches above normal.
Snowfall totaled 31

The 4 th annual St. Pat-
rick’s Day three-on-three
basketball tournament,
hosted by the Heppner Mus-
tang boys’ basketball teams,
will be held Friday, Mar. 15
at the Heppner High School
gymnasium at 5 p.m.
Doors open and regis-
tration will begin at 4:30
with game play at 5 p.m.
Each team is allowed three
or four players and the cost
to participate is $10 per
player. The event is open to
anyone, third grade through
adult.
The tournament is a
major fundraiser for the
boys’ basketball teams and
